MISSION

VSA is a non-profit organization composed of members interested in Vietnamese culture. Its purpose is to strengthen the awareness and knowledge of the Vietnamese culture at NC State University and in surrounding communities to act as a bridge for those who wish to experience the Vietnamese culture.

PHILANTHROPY

Every year, VSA at NCSU participates in the Collective Philanthropy Project (CPP), a MAUVSA initiative that focuses on one Vietnamese-based philanthropy for all schools in the Mid-Atlantic region. For 2019-2021, our collective philanthropy is Messengers of Love.

“Founded in 2004, Messengers of Love is a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to bringing Help, Love and Happiness to the Orphans and Poor of Vietnam. Messengers of Love strives to achieve lasting improvements in the quality of life of deprived children in Vietnam through a process that unites people across cultures and adds meaning and values to their lives by adhering to our Missions:

  • To help the poor and orphaned children of Vietnam through sponsorship, yearly gift giving, orphanage rebuilding, school rebuilding, and educational assistance programs.

  • To provide improved quality of life for the poor and disadvantaged of Vietnam through our home building program and gift giving projects.

  • To allow each of us an opportunity to develop the mind and heart of loving kindness, and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.”

Messengers of Love was the sole philanthropy for our first-ever Charity Ball in 2019. Messenger of Love’s president, Theresa Tran, made an in-person keynote speech in endorsement of the CPP selection and our organization’s initiative.
